Tier II Support Technician

A software product company that provides email security to over 10,000 clients worldwide needs a  Support Technicians (II) to bring on to their 5-person support team. This company is located near downtown Dallas with a DART station stop right in the basement!

The technician should have at least a year of experience working in a Linux environment (RHEL/CentOS), and should be able to troubleshoot/debug shell scripts (ssh, ksh, perl, bash, etc). These technicians interact with customers frequently, so should be comfortable handling issues via the phone. The team supports messaging systems so exposure to Exchange, PostFix is very helpful. They will also be troubleshooting issues on web servers, databases, and firewalls.

This is a fast-paced environment looking for junior technicians who are eager to gain a lot of experience across a wide array of technologies. If this sounds like you, then apply right now!

Required Skills & Experience

  • 1+ years of experience in a system support position (RHEL, CentOS preferred)
  • Postfix, Exchange, or other messaging experience
  • Apache/Tomcat/IIS exposure
  • PostgresSQL/MySQL exposure
  • Great communication skills

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Shell scripting knowledge
  • VMWare management
  • Knowledge of networking basics (firewalls, routers, switches)

What You Will Be Doing

Tech Breakdown

  • 80% System support
  • 20% Network support

Daily Responsibilities

  • 90% Hands On
  • 10% Customer interaction
