Senior Data Engineer / Machine Learning Platform / SF
An AI startup based in SF is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join their team. You will be working on the most important problems in technology today: how can humans and AI collaborate to solve important and sometimes complicated tasks? Their users range from engineers and data scientists to subject matter experts building tools which increasingly incorporate machine learning.
The company leases an entire building for their brand new, spacious office in SoMa just blocks from Powell BART/Muni Stations. They offer weekly courses with ML engineers to teach different topics of data science to engineering staff. The company employs one specialist in each of ten fields - computer vision, NLP, search, etc. - because the platform is ML based and can be used for all different types of problems based on the client need.
The platform has thousands of contributors who are paid to input data to train algorithms more efficiently. For example, a client was able to train a medical device for sleep apnea by using the platform which had scientists listen to samples and determine which was someone snoring. This is human-in-the-loop which is a core part of the platform. It has funded small towns in Africa and helped companies make better medical devices, so there is a mission driven aspect for this team, although not directly working for a non-profit or something similar.
Great opportunity to gain exposure to machine learning for a data engineer!
