If you prefer to work entirely in Linux systems, this is the role for you. The client is looking for an experienced Linux Engineer to help with the virtualization process, and you could be that engineer. If you work well with AWS and VMWare, then you already have a foot-in-the-door. The job has about a 70% focus on delivery with the rest of the focus is on support. This support will only be necessary for complex issues that arise in the facility. The majority of the role will focus on preparing technical deployment plans.
The candidate for this position should have experience with a variety of Linux flavors, including Red Hat, CentOS, Fedora, and Ubuntu, but this role will not be in an enterprise environment (no RHEL necessary.) That means you will have the opportunity to work in a mid-size environment, a great step for you small environment engineers looking to break into enterprise level companies.
Besides basic competency using Bash scripting, the candidate should also have at least a basic understanding of Python or Ruby (or ideally both). This will not be an essential feature of the job’s day-to-day responsibilities, but is a requirement for the position.
Other than these mentioned skills, the client is hoping that the candidate will be familiar with continuous integration tools like Chef or Ansible, as well as the containerization tool Docker. These are not requirements for the role, but will be greatly appreciated.
